Diesel, the farm.

http://cache.consumerist.com/assets/resources/2007/07/diesel.jpg

I wrote about Diesel before (when they bought Victor & Rolf). In my opinion it's one of the coolest, most innovative brands around. What a lot of people don't know is that Diesel has it's own farm! Located in the Italian Veneto region, they produce wine, oil and grappa. Diesel clothing is not the cheapest kid in town and the products from the farm are no exception! Sold only by a few selected retailers in the US and the U.K. Prices for a bottle go up to $300. Have a look at the Diesel farm.

Victor & Rolf sold to Renzo Rosso

http://www.advertisingdentist.com/Images/diesel ad.jpg

In a move that makes him the emperor of designer cool, Renzo Rosso, the owner of Diesel and of hip young denim brands, has taken a controlling stake in Viktor & Rolf, the label of the Dutch duo Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren. On Tuesday, Only the Brave (OTB), Rossos Italian holding company, will announce the new venture, which marks Viktor & Rolf as a brand with an imposing future. "My dream is to represent a fresh, modern group for the future - I dont look for establishment designers but someone with important creativity and Viktor & Rolf are the expression of my luxury," Rosso said in a telephone interview on Monday. As chairman of OTB, which had revenues last year of €1.3 billion, or $1.95 billion, Rosso already controls Dsquared, Maison Martin Margiela and Sophia Kokosalaki, and manufactures Vivienne Westwoods leading lines.

The Wicked Styles of Harajuku Girls

The term "Harajuku Girls" has been used by English-language media to describe teenagers dressed in any fashion style who are in the area of Harajuku. These girls may be members of various sub-cultures including Gothic Lolita, Ganguro, Gyaru, and Kogal. They may also be dressed as characters from an anime, movie, or manga (known as cosplay). In the 1980s large numbers of street performers and wildly dressed teens including takenoko-zoku (????, "bamboo-shoot kids") gathered on Omotesand? and the street that passes through Yoyogi Park on Sundays when the streets were closed to traffic. The streets were reopened to traffic in the 90s, and a great number of teens stopped gathering there. Today there are still teenagers hanging out in Harajuku, mostly on the bridge across the train tracks from Harajuku station to Yoyogi Park. Visual kei is associated with Harajuku. In attendance one will find Visual kei cosplayers (those dressed as their favorite bands) and those in the Gothic Lolita subculture/fashion.
